6 Seconds. Are you KIDDING ME!?

6 Seconds. Are you KIDDING ME!?

Keith Garvin of CBSDFW.com reported on May 28th 2012, that the average time for recruiters to review an individual’s resume is 6 seconds.A  Are you kidding me!?A  That was my initial thought as I reviewed the video of the report.

See for yourself.

What are your thoughts on the matter?

Do you think this is a fair representation of what recruiters today do with your resume?
Are you that worthless that a recruiter doesn’t even have the time to take your life seriously?

I find it difficult to believe that the best recruiters in the hiring market are so dismissive of the resumes that pass their desk.

If they are that dismissive, do you really want to work with them?A  Do you really want that recruiter to represent you?
I know I wouldn’t want their services.

[pullquote align=”left”]Don’t get me wrong, I’m not naive to the fact that there are candidates who really don’t care.[/pullquote]I’m not naive to the fact that there are candidates who really don’t care.A That is why recruiters are there as the gatekeepers for the employer.A  They have to be able to sift out those individuals who are exaggerating their skillset, pretending they are something they’re not and yes I mean they are being dishonest. (Shame on you!).

Recruiters are professionals — well should I say good recruiters are professionals and they like those of you who are looking for work have had to start out somewhere.A  There is no easy ride to being successful. A But it is simply unacceptable for a recruiter to give a cursory glance at someone’s life as if they are simply a worthless waste of time that is fit only for the trash can!

So even though Keith opens a sore wound in the recruiting market,A don’t be so dismissive.A  One day it could be you.A  In fact one day it will be you!
